Unitised curtain walling describes a panel system of glazing that is fully fabricated, glazed and sealed, and assembled off-site in a specialist factory.

These panels are then transported to the site for quick set up onto pre-prepared fixings. Unitised panels are generally the width of a glazing bay and one or more storeys higher and are lifted directly onto their steel or concrete super-structure.

By undertaking the project management, producing the necessary RAMS (Risk Assessments, Method Statements) including all CoSHH documentation, VAM Construction assume full control of the installation works, including supply of all necessary plant.

Planning and control of material flow is a key aspect of all unitised glazing projects, and VAM produce programmes to track and identify ‘make ready’ needs associated with materials, plant, access and coordination with other trades.

This ensures works continue efficiently and achieve the scheduled targets set. At the outset a strategy is devised and work teams implemented to maximise efficiency, generally consisting of a bracket team, Unit Installation team, and finishing squad whose responsibility is to complete work areas and achieve handover.
